Pope Memorial Humane Society Wants You to Eat for Pete's Sake!

The 12th annual Eat for Pete’s Sake event is back for another year of delicious local food and giving back to local homeless animals.

Eat for Pete’s Sake has become a day for participating restaurants to donate a portion of their day’s sales back to Pope Memorial Humane Society in honor of Pete. Who is Pete? Pete is just one of nearly 1,300 animals who come through our door each year needing shelter, food, medical care, love and attention and, a permanent home. Each year Pope Memorial Humane Society chooses one of our wonderful shelter dogs to represent all homeless animals and crown him “Pete” as the face of all animals in need.

We are thrilled to announce that our 2019 “Pete” is Bradley, a 5-year-old collie who came to Pope Memorial Humane Society as one of 75 collies and over 90 animals seized by the state. For the majority of his life, Bradley was held in a pen with over 20 other dogs with little to no human interaction. He is quickly learning that we want nothing but to love him and shower him with affection. Each day Bradley makes progress, whether it is learning that he does not need to cower at the human touch or that the grass under his paws is a good thing.

By dining out at participating restaurants on September 19th you will help raise money for the homeless animals, like Bradley, in our care at Pope Memorial Humane Society.
