Poll: Majority split in Bruins' season outcome

By Staff | Dec 06, 2018

The latest Courier Publications/VillageSoup sports poll has concluded, and voters were split on how they thought the Boston Bruins would do this season.

As of Wednesday, Dec. 5, the Bruins' record sat at 14-9, good for fourth in the Atlantic Standings, behind Tampa Bay, Toronto and Buffalo. Boston also has suffered a rash of injuries to the team.

Voters think Boston will either win the Stanley Cup — the National Hockey League's championship — or lose in the second round, as both choices racked up 29 percent of the vote. Twenty-four percent of voters believe the Bruins will lose in the conference finals, while 12 percent stated Boston will lose in the Stanley Cup Finals. The last six percent of voters believe the Bruins will lose in the first round of the playoffs.

This week the sports staff debuts a new sports poll, and we take a more local approach, as we ask: Which Midcoast boys basketball team will have the most successful season?

The poll will be open until next week, when the sports staff will change the poll to ask about the Midcoast girls basketball squads.
