Poll: Majority pleased Cora back to manage Boston Red Sox

By Staff | Nov 21, 2020

The latest Courier Publications/VillageSoup sports poll has come to a close, and the majority of voters are "happy and excited" to welcome Alex Cora back to his previous manager role with the Boston Red Sox.

Forty-seven-point-one percent chose the above response, while 29.4 percent were "upset and disappointed" — which would have included more than one vote from Sports Director Ken Waltz, if he participated in the polls. The remaining 23.5 percent were "ambivalent" when it came to the choice of Boston management.

Cora was the manager in 2018 — when Boston brought home a World Series title and set a franchise record for overall victories with 119 — as well as in 2019, when the club missed the playoffs with a 84-78 record.

Cora and Boston agreed to part ways after the 2019 season for Cora's role in the Houston Astros' cheating scandal, in which Cora was suspended from baseball for a year.

Now, the sports poll shifts its gaze to the New England Patriots' dynasty, which has encompassed the past two decades, and asks: Who is more responsible for New England Patriots' nearly 20-year dynasty?

Vote below.

In those 20 years, the Patriots have collected six Super Bowl victories in nine appearances, nine AFC Championship game wins in 10 appearances, 16 AFC East division crowns, a 237-82 overall record, as well as 19 straight winning seasons.

As of Thursday, Nov. 19, New England held a 4-5 overall record and sat third in the division standings.
