Police say deceased in back of Lincoln Street Center died of self-inflicted gunshot

Rockland — A 28-year-old man found dead in a car parked behind the Lincoln Street Center died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Rockland Deputy Police Chief Chris Young said police were notified at about 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12 of a suspicious vehicle parked in the parking lot of the building on Lincoln Street. The initial report was that a man was in the driver's seat of the vehicle and appeared to be sleeping.

Upon the arrival by patrol officers, they discovered that the man was deceased. Detectives from Rockland Police Department's criminal investigations division were called and responded to the scene to take over the investigation. Upon completion of the investigation it was determined that the man had died as a result of a self-inflicted gun shot wound.

No name has been released.
