Jan 03, 2020

Rockport — Rockport police say seven motor vehicles were broken into Thursday afternoon at two day care centers.

The burglary and thefts occurred at centers in Glen Cove and West Rockport, Camden and Rockport, Police Chief Randy Gagne said Friday morning Jan. 3.

He said a lone woman in a silver sports utility vehicle was seen in the areas at the time of the break-ins.

He said similar burglaries have occurred in Damariscotta, Topsham, Brunswick, Saco, and Sanford. He said the Rockport thefts are believed tied to the other ones.

The perpetrators are targeting vehicles in day cares, and health clubs, the chief said. Wallets and other valuable items are being stolen. He urged motorists to remove valuables from vehicles and to lock their vehicles.
