Waldoboro bank robber at large

Waldoboro — Police are asking for the public's help in finding the suspect in a robbery that took place Monday afternoon, July 17, at Camden National Bank.

Waldoboro Police Chief William Labombarde said no one was injured.

At about 2:30 p.m.,Waldoboro Officer Chris Spear and Labombarde responded to the Camden National branch on Route 1 in Waldoboro for the report of a robbery.

Police learned that a white male, approximately 6 feet tall, with a slender build, entered the bank wearing a dark-colored nylon stocking and a large floppy hat. He passed a note to the teller demanding money -- with which she complied, the chief said.

No weapon was displayed. The subject then left the bank on foot in an unknown direction of travel. The chief said an undisclosed amount of money was taken.

Detectives from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department and a Maine State Police K-9 also assisted at the scene.

The chief said the incident was being invetigated and no further information was available.

Social media posts reported that police cruisers and yellow tape were blocking the entrance and exit to the bank.
