Rockland — The 2001 red Kia sedan that was reported stolen from a Pleasant Street residence in the early morning hours of April 7, was found destroyed in the woods April 13, said police.

Rockland Police Deputy Chief Wally Tower said the vehicle is owned by Devin Deabler of Rockland and the keys were inside the vehicle when it was taken sometime between 10 p.m. April 6 and 6 a.m. April 7.

The license plate number of the sedan was 753TK. Waldoboro Police Officer Larry Hesseltine found the discarded plates in Waldoboro, and then received a call from a car owner in town reporting their license plates stolen, said Waldoboro Police Chief Bill Labombarde April 10.

Labombarde said the vehicle was recovered, but was found heavily vandalized in the woods off Old County Road in Waldoboro.

Tower said there are no suspects at this time.
