Poetry Night at Pig + Poet

Camden — Pig + Poet at Whitehall, 52 High St./Route 1, will present the second installment of its Poetry Night series Wednesday, Oct. 18. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the readings begin at 7:30 p.m.

Camden’s Whitehall Inn is famously the site of Edna St. Vincent Millay’s first public reading in 1912 of her poem “Renascence.” A portion of proceeds from Poetry Night goes to the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance’s Ilgenfritz Scholarship, which suppors young female writers in the Waldo and Knox counties.

The reading will feature special guest Portland Poet Laureate Gibson Fay-LeBlanc, as well as poets Rebecca Irene Bondellio, Jacob Fricke, meg willing, Rufus Nicoll and Julia Bouwsma. Down East Magazine food editor Joe Ricchio serves as host.

Cost is $10 at the door. Pig + Poet will be open for regular dinner and bar service beginning at 5 p.m. Ticket holders will be seated in the main dining room.
