CAMDEN — The Owl & Turtle Book Shop’s Local Authors Night presents poet Dave Morrison reading and performing poems from his 14th collection, “Refuge” (2019 JukeBooks) on Thursday, July 25. The event starts at 5 p.m. on the upper level of the Owl & Turtle, 33 Bay View St. Admission is free.

Morrison, hailed as “a hearty weed in the garden of American Poetry” presents his poems with looped electric guitar, as heard on his album “Poetry Rocks” (Mishara Music).

“There is no voice quite like his. What shines in every poem is musical sound and rhythm, grittiness, reality, humor, and the rare ability to tackle serious subjects without taking himself too seriously. There is a wonderful, refreshing lack of pretentiousness and self-pity in all his poems and books." — Alice Persons, Editor and Publisher, Moon Pie Press

The Owl & Turtle was recently lauded in Down East magazine as one of the Best in Maine.
