Waldoboro — Planning for the 2014 season of the Waldoboro Recreation Department's Adult Coed Fall Softball League is underway.

An informational meeting for all returning and prospective team captains will be held on Monday, July 28 at 5 p.m. at the Waldoboro Town Office.

Anyone that wants to enter a team is encouraged to attend. Team registrations for the season, along with an entry fee of $20 per person, are due to the Waldoboro Recreation Department no later than Friday, Aug. 8.

The league is limited to 16 teams. Returning and Waldoboro-based teams have first priority.

Games begin around the third week of August and conclude with playoffs scheduled for early October. Teams play twice per week, weekday nights and Sunday afternoons, at Medomak Valley High School, Medomak Middle School, Philbrook Field (A.D. Gray), John Foster Field and Friendship Recreation Field.

"This is purely a recreational league for older adults with an emphasis on having fun and enjoying the game of softball," said Kyle Santheson, recreation director.

Players must be age 18 or older to play and the average age of the game day lineup for a team must be 33 years. Men must use league-provided wooden bats. Three women must be in the field at all times.

Those interested in entering a team should contact the recreation department. Rules and registration forms are available at the Waldoboro Town Office or online at
