Pirates to converge on Children's Museum Aug. 19

Aug 11, 2017

Rockland — The Coastal Children's Museum, 75 Mechanic St., is hosting a Pirate Day Saturday, Aug. 19. There will be pirate-themed crafts and activity taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Kids and parents will get a chance to explore a real sailboat belonging to the Sail Power and Steam Museum from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and there will be a craft session making pirate hats from 1 to 2 p.m.

Families are also invited to participate in a Community Treasure Hunt the same day. Using a special map, families will be guided to five locations on Main Street in Rockland to collect stamps. After all five stamps are gathered, kids can hand in their map at the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. to collect their treasure. Maps can be picked up at the museum in advance or the day of the hunt, printed from the museum’s website, .coastalchildrensmuseum.org, or can be picked up on the day at any of the five participating businesses: hello hello books, Project Puffin Visitor’s Center, Snowdrop Confections, The Grasshopper Shop and Clementine.
