Ruusamari Teppo

Thomaston — The Finnish Heritage House presents pianist Ruusamari Teppo in concert on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Thomaston Federated Church, 9 Hyler St. Teppo is the great-great granddaughter of Finland’s beloved composer Jean Sibelius. She will perform his most well-known music at this event.

In addition to her concert program, Teppo will read excerpts from a series of letters Jean and Aino Sibelius wrote to each other. These personal stories will provide the audience with an understanding of the development of his musical style.

Teppo began playing piano when she was five years old. After graduating from Sibelius High School, she studied in Paris for three years, and earned artist certificates from music schools in Prague and Budapest.

A $5 per person donation is suggested. Coffee and pulla will be served after the performance.
