Rockland — Peter Q. Libbey, 74, died unexpectedly Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at his home following a long period of multiple health issues.

He was an accomplished fine woodworker and was always seeking to improve his knowledge of any subject or task at hand. He enjoyed a lifelong friendship with Harold Simmons of Rockland.

Libbey and his wife Ruth of St. George; two daughters, Jennifer K. White and her husband Michael of Kenduskeag, and Kathleen R. Libbey of Dedham; three sisters, Jane D. Mascari and her husband Ed of Georgia, Lynn Tibbetts and her husband Chester of Gray, and Susan Araujo and her husband Gary of Dover Foxcroft; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A rare Master Craftsman in today's rush rush world.  If it could be made with wood, he could do it.  The world is a better place because of his art and dedication to the craft.  R.I.P.
