Personal financial management class starts Sept. 24

Rockland — New Ventures Maine will offer My Money Works, a free four-week class in personal financial management, starting Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, 55 Main St. Participants will learn to stretch their money, pay bills, reduce debt, find money for savings, plan for retirement and set personal financial goals.

Successful completion of the My Money Works class meets one of the requirements for the Rainy Day Savings program, a matched-savings program that enables eligible individuals and families to double their savings with a matching grant of up to $300 for emergency expenses, as well as requirements for the Family Development Account program, a 4-to-1 matched-savings program. Eligible households with a minor child may choose to save for vehicle purchase or repair, emergency savings, or home purchase or repair.

My Money Works is open to individuals and couples of all ages and incomes. Anyone who is interested in gaining greater control over their money is welcome.
