York — The Pen Bay U13 boys soccer team won the Harvest Cup for the third straight year during the Columbus Day weekend.

The tournament was hosted by York Soccer Club.

The U13 team consisted of Ryan Andersen, Will Duke, Karl Hokkanen, Eric LeBlond, Vishal Mellor, Charlie Pons, Harrison Garcia, Alex Todd, Travis Dube, Miles Murray, Griffin Dubrow, Owen McManus, Aiden Aselton, Liam O'Dwyer and Cam Brown. The team is coached by Patrick Mellor, Scott Pons and Dwight Pitcairn.

Pen Bay advanced to the semifinals of the tournament after it defeated Marshwood-Melino 4-0. For Pen Bay, Aselton and Brown scored two goals in the victory.

Pen Bay then beat York SC 7-0, as it received two goals from Brown, Duke and Mellor, as Pons and LeBlond added one goal.

Due to a computer error in the group standings, the fourth-seeded Timberwolves thought they had been eliminated from the tournament, and therefore they did not show up for the early-morning semifinal.

Pen Bay advanced to the finals with a 4-0 forfeit win over the Timberwolves.

The championship game was contested between Pen Bay and Marshwood-Melino. Brown scored the goals for Pen Bay in a 3-1 victory, which gave Pen Bay the title.

"It was a great weekend for the players and parents to bond and get to know each other better," said coach Pitcairn. "The games were challenging and the final was a very tough encounter against a very good team. The team as a whole was disciplined and worked very well together throughout the tournament."
