Rockland — An Owls Head woman was taken to the hospital Monday after being struck by a car.

Sabrina Stuart, 59, was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport by Rockland emergency medical services following the incident that occurred at about 10:30 a.m. Nov. 27 in the parking lot of Goodwill on Camden Street in Rockland.

The injuries were minor, according to Rockland police.

A Toyota RAV4 driven by Marsha Bird, 68, of Owls Head, struck Stuart, according to police. The driver said she did not see the pedestrian because the sun was in her eyes.

The incident occurs about a week before a scheduled forum to discuss pedestrian safety.

A forum has been scheduled for 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, at Oceanside High School's cafeteria, 400 Broadway, in Rockland to discuss pedestrian safety. The city police department, public services department, Maine Department of Transportation, and the Bicycle Coalition of Maine will be in attendance.
