Waldoboro — Those looking to see the debut of the “Pink Panthers” — namely, the Medomak Valley basketball teams in their varsity doubleheader with visiting Lincoln Academy of Newcastle — will have to wait a bit longer.

Due to a heating issue at the school which caused Regional School Unit 40 to cancel school on Tuesday, Jan. 2 for Medomak Valley High School students, the Panthers’ home contests with the Eagles have been postponed to Thursday, Jan. 11.

The boys games will be played at 5:30 p.m. and the girls at 7 p.m.

The games were to be run in conjunction with the first annual “Paws for the Cause,” hosted by Medomak Valley All-Sports Boosters. The basketball players will sport new pink uniforms — made possible by the financial support of John and Gayle Murphy of Owls Head — to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
