PAWS: Can you spare an hour or two? Help a cat be adopted

Jan 15, 2013

Cassia turned 11 a couple of months ago, and do you know what she wanted for her birthday? She asked her friends and family to buy gifts for the animals at the shelter. Pictured is Cassia and her younger brother, Ethan, with Collin, our office manager, and all the supplies they brought in. Collin made sure he was first in line for the new cat treats and toys. An immense thank you to you, Cassia, for your thoughtfulness, and for caring about the animals here.

Why, oh why, is our darling Iris still here? She loves people and doesn’t mind hanging out with the cats in her room. She is friendly and is always looking for someone to rub her under her chin. And she’s just plain beautiful. We know there is room in someone’s heart and house for this special lady.

Isabelle is a 2-year-old boxer mix, but don’t let her tough looks fool you. This sweetie pie is anything but. She loves to play, cuddle and go on walks, and she will need a home without other animals.

Want to help our cats find their “fur-ever” home? Do you have an hour or two one day a week you can devote to helping a cat get adopted? If you do, then we need your help. We are looking for people to take cats to three local banks so they can be seen and adopted. All you have to do is pick up the cats at the shelter, drive over to the banks, put soft blankets and toys in the cat cages and put the cat or kitten in. People love to see the cats at the banks, and the extra exposure helps them be adopted faster. If you want to be a part of this very satisfying process, call the shelter and speak with Laura.

Wish list items: We always need non-clumping cat litter, canned cat food, cotton balls, rubbing alcohol and large bottles of hand sanitizer.

Please stop in and see us and all our lovely lasses and lads at 146 Camden St. in Rockport. We’re open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Don’t forget to take a look online at, for the latest news and events. And thank you, as always, for your caring and support.
