Parenting skills class begins Sept. 28

Rockland — Broadreach Family & Commmunity Services offers Active Parenting, a free, six-week class for parents and caretakers of children ages 5 to 12 seeking to improve their parenting skills, at the Rockland Harbor YMCA's Flanagan Center, 61 Limerock St.. The course will focus on helping parents develop a closer, happier relationship with their children.

Classes start Tuesday, Sept. 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., during which a light meal will be served. Childcare and transportation are available, if requested.

Topics of discussion include: improving communication skills, encouraging school success, avoiding power struggles, and preventing problems with drugs, alcohol and sex. Active Parenting helps adults develop confidence and create a closer relationship with their child.
