Parade of Lights rallies community spirit

Rockland — The annual Festival of Lights Parade drew hordes of spectators, who lined both sides of Main Street in Rockland Nov. 25.

Judging of the more than 30 parade floats and storefront decorations was done by members of the Rockland City Council.

Storefront decoration winners were: first place, Flowers by Hoboken on Tillson Avenue; second, fourTWELVE on Main Street; third, Snowdrop Confections on Main Street; and honorable mention, Rockland Cafe on Main Street.

Parade float winners were: Most Lights - Journey's End Marina; Most Creative - Habitat for Humanity; Best Commercial - Sogno Salon; Best Spirit - Strand Theatre; Honorable Mention - Maritime Energy; and People's Choice - judged for most food collected - Knox County Girl Scouts.

The annual event, sponsored by First National Bank, is a production of Rockland Main Street Inc. and its more than 50 business partners, and benefits the Salvation Army.

Topping off the Festival of Lights celebration was breakfast with Santa, hosted by Eclipse Restaurant, Nov. 26.
