Panthers settle for course split with Black Bears, Tigers

Augusta — The Medomak Valley golf team’s effort in a high school tri-match against Gardiner and Maranacook of Readfield on Thursday, Sept. 5 at Augusta Country Club proved par for the course.

The Panthers logged a four-golfer stroke total of 197, good enough to pick up a win over the Black Bears (207), but not enough to fend off the Tigers (194).

Medomak Valley bested the Black Bears 6-3 and fell to the Tigers 8-1.

The individual results for the Panthers' match with Maranacook, with Medomak Valley golfers listed first, were: Sean Sebrey (44) beat Corbin Howe (53), 3+1; Carson Murphy (44) beat Max Thamert (63), 4+3; Clayton Belcher (53) lost to Jared Shaw (49), 4+2; Garret Hutchins (56) lost to Thomas Thornton, (49), 4+2; Tyler Metcalf (60) beat Alex Trafton (62), 1-up; and Noah Crosby (56) lost to Thomas Trafton (51), 3+2.

The individual results from the Panthers' match with Gardiner, with Medomak Valley golfers listed first, were: Sean Sebrey (44) lost to Drew Kelley (40), 2+1; Carson Murphy (44) beat Owen Doyle (58), 3+2; Clayton Belcher (53) lost to Jared Shaw (49), 4+2; Garret Hutchins (56) lost to Logan Manter (53), 2-down; Tyler Metcalf (60) lost to Nadia Kempton (52), 3+1; and Noah Crosby (56) lost to Zach Bowman (57), 2+1.

Kelley was the medalist for the matches.
