Rockland — A Rockland man and woman were charged with drug offenses Jan. 23, following an investigation by state police and drug enforcement agents of local heroin use and trafficking.

Katie Matthews, 26, was summoned for heroin possession, and Zachary Clark, 30, was arrested for aggravated furnishing of heroin, said James Pease of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency. The pair was charged at a rented Camden Street home.

Fifty-six bags of heroin were confiscated from the home rented, said Pease.

Clark was released on $1,000 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 24, according to a press release from the agency.

Clarke was convicted of trafficking cocaine in Sagadahoc County in 2009, elevating the current drug charge to an aggravated offense.
