Aubrey Merritt will begin a weekly class on drawing animals Saturday, Sept. 9, at The Art Loft in Rockland.

Rockland — September offers a harvest of options at The Art Loft, the nonprofit community arts center at 385 Main Street, Suite 9 (Thorndike Building).

Professional artists and educator Angela Anderson will lead a lobster buoys Paint Night Friday, Sept. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. No experience is necessary to take home a painting after enjoying a social BYOB evening. All materials and snacks are included in the $35 fee.

Anderson also instructs a weekly drop-in class Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The class determines the subject and works on the painting in oils or acrylics. Fee is $20 per class, with a $3 materials fee for those who wish to use oils without bringing their own. The Painting with Angela class will run through Sept. 25.

Saturdays, Sept. 9 through 23, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Aubrey Merritt instructs Drawing Animals - Form and Texture. Cost is $45 for the three-class session.

On Saturday, Sept. 9, Nanfei Wang will instruct Chinese Traditional Painting, focusing on morning glories, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Fee is $35; all materials are provided.

Upcoming at The Art Loft, new Paint Night instructor Justin Kinney will lead painting the Harvest Moon Friday, Sept. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. ($35); and Deborah Stevenson will lead an autobiographical collage workshop titled Creating Our Story Saturday, Sept. 16, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. ($45).
