Painting, drawing at The Art Loft

Rockland — Hands-on art options continue at The Art Loft, 385 Main St., Suite 9, in the downtown Thorndike building.

On Friday, Oct. 13, Caitlin Meservey will lead an “Autumn Path” Paint Night from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants will mix socializing with step-by-step painting that results in a canvas to take home, even by those who have never painted before. Snacks will be served; feel free to BYOB, wine or beer is fine. Cost is $35.

Saturday, Oct. 14, offers two drawing options. Drawing Basics will begin, meeting weekly from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturdays through Oct. 28, led by Aubrey Merritt. This introductory course is suitable for all ages and skill levels. Students will learn all about various types of dry media including graphite pencil, charcoal, ink pens and colored pencil. Cost is $45 for the three-class session, materials included.

Saturday afternoon, Tanya Harsch offers a 1 to 3 p.m. workshop in Perspective Drawing. This workshop will cover one, two, three point linear perspectives, basic forms (circles, cubes, etc) in perspective, patterns and more advanced applications of perspective tools. The class will include demos, as well as hands-on practice. All levels are welcome; cost is $35.

Upcoming is a “Vintage Pumpkin” Paint Night Thursday, Oct. 19, and a felted nests Art Social Friday, Oct. 20, both from 6 to 8 p.m. ($35); and a 1 to 4:30 p.m. Surrender to Creativity workshop with Erika Manning Saturday, Oct. 21 ($45).
