Open letterpress for Maine Craft Weekend

The letterpress at Steel House South will be open to the public during Maine Craft Weekend.

Rockland — Artists Karin Spitfire and Richard Reitz Smith will open their letterpress studio at Steel House South, 639 Main St., to the public during Maine Craft Weekend. Visitors are welcome Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

The press will be running, so everyone is invited to set a line of type, print a card and fall in love with letterpress. This open studio will feature an exhibit and sale of works by both artists, along with opportunities to print using a Vandercook letterpress; and participate in related book arts activities.

Maine Craft Weekend, a statewide tour of Maine craft studios, breweries, businesses and events, is an opportunity for the public to explore the life and work of craft artists and craft brewers in Maine.
