Plant-powered protein: what is it, where do we find it and how do we cook it? Join Food for Life Instructor and Plant-based Nutrition Chef MiMi McGee for “Beyond Tofu: The importance of Plant Powered Protein for Health,” a 2-hour workshop exploring the benefits of plant-powered protein. This class will be held Thursday, September 25, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Picker Family Resource Center.

This workshop will cover why it is important to include plant proteins in our diet, why it might be a good idea to limit or avoid animal sources of protein, which foods provide plant strong proteins, sprouting for health and more!

After this workshop, participants will be more aware of plant sources of protein and how to prepare them deliciously.

Students will sample foods like tofu, legumes, grains, pseudo grains, nuts, seeds and leafy greens.

There are only a few spaces left so sign up soon! Cost for the class is $30. Visit to register.

Beyond Tofu is the second of two workshops to be held in September at The Picker Family Resource Center with instructor MiMi McGee. The first, Beyond Yogurt, will explore cultured and fermented foods and will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
