Online Poll: Should deserters serve jail time?

Nov 09, 2017

This week we are asking:

"Should Bowe Bergdahl have been given a prison sentence?"

Bowe Bergdahl, the U.S. Army sergeant who walked away from his post in Afghanistan, prompting a search in which some of his comrades were injured, will serve no prison time, a military judge ruled last week, according to The Guardian.

See attached chart for results from last week's poll.

Many soldiers experience PTSD and profound stress when at war. Those of us who have not served need to be careful in judging them. He was captured and tortured for years. He is a broken young man. We should leave him alone.
