One Community Many Voices clears barriers to success

Audrey Lovering visited the VillageSoup studio March 11 to talk about One Community Many Voices.

OCMV is a charity started by Reade and Martha Brower that helps local individuals by removing one obstacle or barrier that is keeping them from succeeding and then empowering them to "pay it forward" by volunteering in the community.

In one case, OCMV helped a single mother obtain her GED and further education by providing a laptop computer for course work. She has since gone on to organize a study group for other single parents, and one computer has led to helping five people.

For some, barriers to success can be a broken-down vehicle in an area without much public transportation, or a health problem they cannot afford to address.

The organization has several events planned to raise funds and get people in the community out and active, including running and biking events.

OCMV plans to evolve over time to take on more of a role in the community and work with other partner organizations.
