Oceanside, Medomak Valley athletes strong at KVAC meet
Blasius, Parent finish among top two in events
Brunswick — It was a productive day — and one that nearly lent itself to individual titles — for a handful of Medomak Valley and Oceanside high school indoor track athletes on Saturday, Feb. 9 in the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B championships at Bowdoin College.
In fact, Panthers Serena Blasius and Alexis Parent, independent athletes, finished second and other Midcoast student-athletes ended among the top few in their events.

The girls team scores were: Winslow 98, Belfast 96, Waterville 85.5, Lawrence of Fairfield 68.5, Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield 33, Medomak Valley of Waldoboro 27, Leavitt of Turner 22, Nokomis of Newport 22, Morse of Bath 9, Erskine Academy of South China 8 and Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 6.
The boys team scores were: Belfast 99, Leavitt 72, Lincoln Academy 63, Nokomis 52, Erskine Academy 43, Morse 32.5, Waterville 31, Lawrence 29, Winslow 25.5, Maine Central Institute 18 and Oceanside of Rockland 10.
Next up for Panther and Mariner qualifiers is the state Class B championships on Saturday, Feb. 16 at noon at Bates College in Lewiston.

Boys 400 meters — 9, Alex Mahar, Ocean, 59.35.
Girls 800 meters — 5, Alexis Parent, Med, 2:50.07; and 9, Maria Protheroe, Ocean, 2:55.90.
Boys 800 meters — 4, James Weinand, Ocean, 2:15.52.
Girls two miles — 2, Serena Blasius, Med, 13:23.61.
Boys 4x200-meter relay — 9, Oceanside, 1:49.24.
Girls shot put — 11, Anna Poisson, Ocean, 27-0.
