Oceanside mat athletes get back to work early in 2020

Bath — With the new year's celebration behind them, the Oceanside wrestling team got back to work on Saturday, Jan. 4 in its first high school meet of 2020.

The Mariners were one of five teams to tangle with one another as Oceanside topped Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 54-18, tied Windham/Gray-New Gloucester 36-36 (Oceanside won by criteria) and fell to Erskine Academy of South China 45-24 and host Morse of Bath 54-27.

The individual Oceanside results, with Mariner wrestlers listed first, were:

113 pounds — Carter Fogarty pinned Jake Emond, EA; and won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy, Windham and Morse.

120 pounds — Silas Spear won by forfeit over Erskine Academy, Lincoln Academy and Windham; and was pinned by Taiton Schutt, Mor.

138 pounds — Seth Spear lost to Patrick Hanley, EA; pinned Nicholas Tavernakis, LA; was pinned by Scott Ingalls, Win; and was pinned by Connor McNish, Mor.

145 pounds — Josh Jackomino was pinned by Hugo Smith, EA; pinned Wyatt Flower, LA; pinned Peter Peterson, Win; and pinned Gaige Kindlimann, Win.

160 pounds — Bennett Penney won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy; pinned Andrew Martin, Win; and beat Ben Brewer, Mor.

182 pounds — Nat Small was pinned by Tristan Klemanski, EA; won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy; was pinned by Jason Hart, Win; and was pinned by Isaak Sinclair, Mor.

195 pounds — Matt Spear pinned Nickolas Christiansen, EA; pinned Galen Daly-O'Donnell, LA; won by forfeit over Windham; and pinned Ty Knowlton, Mor.

220 pounds — Kaleb Blackwell won by forfeit over Erskine Academy and Morse; pinned Nicholas Popp, LA; and was pinned by Garrett Allen, Win.

285 pounds — John Burchett was pinned by Tyreke Hitchner, EA; and pinned Trenton McNally, Win.

Devin Guptill won by forfeit over Lincoln Academy; and was pinned by Déja Douglas, Mor.
