Oceanside freshmen cement 12-win campaign

Rockland — The Oceanside High School boys freshmen basketball team had a successful season on the hardwood, which the Mariners hope will translate into jayvee and varsity wins down the road.

Led by coach Darren Randall, the Mariners netted a 12-4 mark on the season and were competitive in the games they lost as they “battled all the way to the end.”

Team members included Sam Atwood, Coby Dorr, Gage Robinson, Mitchell DelFrate, Anthony Marsh, Josef Berger, Zach Gledhill, Zack Davis and Martin King.

Randall said as long as his players continue to work hard during the off-season, “they should be able to help the program in the future.”

“With only nine guys on the team everyone contributed,” he said. “Although the numbers were low this year, the quality of players was high. Each and every player was a joy to coach and worked hard for me and their teammates day in and day out.”

Team leaders in scoring were Atwood (12.9-point average), Dorr (10.7), Robinson (8.5), DelFrate (7.2), Marsh (5.6), Berger (5.0), Gledhill (3.9), Davis (3.5) and King (1.1).
