Ocean State Job Lots announces changes

Apr 01, 2020

Ocean State Job Lot is focused on providing essential services. While the store continues to sell food, gloves, toilet paper, paper towels, disinfectants and sanitizers, and other essentials, it will not be selling any surgical or N95 masks. Using the $250,000 the company has already donated, and the dollars customers are contributing at the registers, it is purchasing over one million of these masks. One hundred percent of them will be donated to hospitals and first responders.

Ocean State Job Lot has delivered $275,000 worth of food to 20 organizations over one seven-day period. It has increased employee pay by $2 per hour; employees can purchase anything in the store at 30% off, the company is adding a 2% surcharge on all merchandise sold, all which will be paid to store associates as a bonus. Customers may decline to pay this 2% surcharge if they choose.

Store hours have been changed to allow more time to clean and restock the shelves. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Ocean State Job Lot is also hosting a shopping hour for those at higher risk, including customers ages 60 and older, every Tuesday and Thursday, 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.
