Rockport — Senior Nick Watts has the honorable distinction of having performed with every performing group at Camden Hills Regional High School. As a result of his musical involvement and achievements, the Visual & Performing Arts Department has awarded him the November Student of the Month.

Watts’ older brothers, who were all active participants in music, influenced him at an early age. His older brother Matt is even majoring in music at the University of Maine. Nick credits much of his current success to his high school music teachers, who continually pushed him and exposed him to new types of music.

Watts has played the baritone saxophone for the Concert Band and Jazz Band for the past four years. He sings bass in all of the vocal groups and has earned a number of honors for his singing. These awards include membership in the District III Chorus, All-State Choir and the prestigious All-Eastern Choir. Watts has also held substantial roles in the school musicals. This year he will be an integral part of the ensemble for “In the Heights,” as well as a featured dancer and solo guitarist.

In addition to enjoying vocal and instrumental music, Watts loves to play guitar and compose. He hopes to continue with this passion following graduation.

His advice to younger musicians: “Just do it, you won’t regret it!”
