Spruce/BW” reflects a recurring theme in his landscape work, honoring both his native Scotland and homeport of North Haven.

North Haven — The Hopkins Wharf Gallery, 7 Hopkins Wharf, and North Haven Gallery, 26 Main St., have opened their 2018 summer seasons.

Hopkins Wharf Gallery’s season will feature work by Patrick Stone, David Wilson and Eric Hopkins. Other artists, both contemporary and from the past, are being shown in the gallery on a rotating basis, including Sarah Baker, Frank Benson, Tim Gillespie, Christopher Minot, Tucker Nichols, William Steiger, Peter Ralston, Amy Wood and Elise Zoller. For the complete list and schedule, see the gallery’s Instagram and Facebook pages.

Stone’s boldly colored folk art visions of historic lobster boats and sailing vessels are on exhibit for the third consecutive summer. The self-taught artist’s works have a devoted audience in North Haven visitors and residents.

Wilson’s richly textured landscapes feature the recurring image of a spruce tree. His imagery evokes personal heraldry, connecting both his Scottish heritage and his love of North Haven’s spruce-lined coast. His current work, influenced by a recent visit to India and Bali, is created through a process of layering paint, paper and mixed materials including sticks, stones, earth and tea leaves.

Renowned painter and glass artist Hopkins’ work will be featured in both the Hopkins Wharf Gallery and the North Haven Gallery. His work is influenced by the “shapes, spaces, patterns, and the rhythms of nature,” as he has encountered them since his North Haven childhood. A reception for Hopkins’ Aug. 5 through 8 show at the North Haven Gallery will be held Monday, Aug. 6, from 4 to 6 p.m.
