Rockport — Members of the Rockport fire and police departments responded to a single-vehicle rollover at approximately 8 a.m. on July 10. The accident occurred on Fern Way in Rockport.

Responders found the vehicle, a late model Subaru Outback with Maine license plates, resting in a ditch with trees on one side and a line of large rocks on the other. The name of the driver has not yet been released, and there were no passengers. Emergency medical technicians from North East Mobile Health Services arrived and checked the driver for any injuries.

Emergency responders worked with Steve Laite of Camden Exxon to attach cables to the vehicle. Fire Chief Jason Peasley said that after an hour and a half they were able to successfully extricate the vehicle and set it upright.

The Rockport Fire Department posted a video clip of the extrication process on their Facebook page along with the message, "Accidents happen -- even in good weather. If you need us, call us -- we'll be there."
