South Thomaston — No one took out nomination papers for the single seat up in March on the town's three-member Board of Selectmen.

The deadline for filing was Jan. 25.

The seat is held by Board Chair Walter Reitz, who announced last month he did not plan to seek reelection.

Because no one took out papers, nominations can be made from the floor of the town meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. The meeting will be held in neighboring Owls Head at Ash Point Community School.

Annual town meetings had been held for at least the past 40 years at the Gilford Butler School. The school closed last summer and elementary school students who attended there now go to Ash Point.

Reitz was elected in 2016, succeeding Dorothy Meriwether, who did not seek reelection that year. She is now a Knox County commissioner.
