New World Record Set at National Boatbuilding Championship by Belfast Builders

By Belfast Rotary Club | Nov 10, 2017

Local builder Cody Keithan, owner of K Construction and his teammate Bruno Borzoni, also of K Construction, recently set a new World Record at the National Boatbuilding Competition in Georgetown, S.C. They built a 12 foot skiff in One hour, 29 minutes and 36 seconds, eclipsing the old record by over seven minutes.

Keithan and Borzoni plan to participate in other regional competitions next spring and to defend their National Championship next August 19th as part of the 11th Annual Belfast Harbor Fest presented by the Belfast Rotary Club on the Belfast waterfront.

Boatbuilding teams from North Carolina (former world champions), South Carolina and New York regional events are expected to compete in Belfast to attempt to wrest the title away from Keithan and Borzoni.

The August event will also feature Come Boating's 18th Rowing Regatta, a Classic Boat Show and the ever-popular Cardboard Boat Race, as well.
