Warren — Corinna Whitehill has started a taxi company operating out of Warren. The company, called Corie’s Ride, and the first day of operation was Monday, Nov. 4. Corie’s Ride offers services to Warren, Waldoboro, and surrounding areas like Rockland and Thomaston.

Whitehill also operates a ride service for adults and children with Mainecare through Midcoast Connector. These services are only for non-emergency medical appointments, however. Whitehill decided she wanted to expand her business to help the community, and recognized that general transportation services were needed in the Warren area.

“I’m excited to do it and get people where they need to go,” said Whitehill of the new business.

Corie’s Ride currently has one car, though she was approved for two. Whitehill hopes to have a second cab up and running by the end of the year. She has one driver for the company, and plans to hire a second driver once she has the second taxi.

The overall reaction from the community has been positive. Whitehill said that MaineCare clients and other Midcoast natives who heard about the taxi service expressed enthusiasm. Local businesses have also been very supportive, and keep her business cards on hand to recommend to customers.

Corie’s Ride Taxi currently operates from Monday to Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.. Whitehill stated that if someone needs a ride outside those hours, for example to the airport, she is willing to make arrangements.

Corie’s Ride is located at 87 Medomak Valley Court in Warren and can be reached at 691-2701.
