Camden — The Midcoast Community Chorale, under the direction of Steven Weston, will be newly instituted as an audition-only choir, with its own rehearsal night and schedule of performances. This offshoot of Midcoast Community Chorus is in response to the extensive growth the organization has enjoyed over the past 10 years.

The intention is to better meet the evolving needs of the singing community. MCChorus will continue its mission as an non-auditioned chorus open to all persons who want to sing with the usual two performances a year.

Auditions for MCChorale are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 9, through Feb. 16 at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm St./Route 1. Interested singers may visit mccsings.org and proceed to the link for MCChorale Auditions to sign up at available times, as well to obtain information for audition preparation, expectations and results.

Artistic Director Weston will open the semester for MCChorale with rehearsals beginning Thursday, Feb. 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church. MCChorale will present its repertoire in multiple performances scheduled on the weekend of June 1 in different Midcoast locations. For more information, email mcclleach@gmail.org or call 975-0582.
