Cooks learn how to make Lobster Mac 'n Cheese with Louise MacLellan-Ruf while practicing Spanish with Nohora Estes.

Rockland — Native French speaker, Alain Ollier, will offer a five-week, intensive Penobscot School course designed for students who wish to improve their high-level intermediate to advanced-level French.

Students will meet two hours weekly on Wednesday mornings for an invigorating French workout. Alain, has recently relocated from Paris to Mid-Coast Maine. He is eager to share his knowledge of French culture and language.

Spanish instructor, Billy Smith, offers two courses. “Principios” (A Place to Start) for beginners and advanced beginners will focus on pronunciation, frequently used words, and cognates and will be offered Mondays, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Intermediate to advanced level students will focus on patterns and key concepts in “Practica Intensiva” (Practical Intensive) offered Tuesdays, 9:30 to noon. Almuerzo, the brown-bag Spanish lunch, will immediately follow the Tuesday class and is open to students and the public at any level of Spanish.
