National Library Week call for video stories

Mar 24, 2021

Rockland — April 4 through 10 is National Library Week, a time to highlight the essential role libraries, librarians and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities. The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Welcome to your library,” which promotes the idea that libraries extend far beyond the four walls of a building and that everyone is welcome to use their services. Whether people visit virtually or in person, libraries are accessible and inclusive places that foster a sense of belonging and community through learning, discovery and exploration.

To celebrate, Rockland Public Library is soliciting video stories for a feature that will premiere April 10. Participants are invited to go to the VidHug website (, click on 'Record Video' (as long as they are on a phone or a computer or device with a camera), and answer one of the following questions in around 60 seconds or less (share a specific story if you can): "Why is the library important to you?" or "How does the library help you and the community?" Videos must be submitted by Monday, April 5, for inclusion in the video. More details can be found on the Rockland Public Library website.

During the week, Rockland Public Library is also highlighting the behind the scenes work of staff daily on social media (Facebook and Instagram), giving away “color your own bookmark” kits made from adult coloring book pages (while supplies last), and presenting a display of library themed books.
