Rockport — The Midcoast Recreation Center continues to prepare for another fun, fast-paced summer on the tennis courts.

“The summer season is always so much fun,” said Seth Meyer, MRC tennis director. “We have tennis offerings for all ages and abilities, and can’t wait to get started.”

MRC offers a variety of junior tennis camps throughout the summer. Red Ball tennis camps, for ages 4-7, and youth tennis camps, for ages 7-12, are offered the weeks of June 25, July 9, July 30, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20. These camps are at MRC.

Teen tennis camps, for ages 11-18, are the weeks of July 2, July 16, July 23 and Aug. 13. The teen camps are outside at Camden Hills Regional High School.

MRC lso offers Junior Team Tennis in the summer. This will run on Thursdays, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., from July 12 to Aug. 9, outdoors at CHRHS. Team tennis offers experienced children the opportunity to play matches in a fun, team-based environment, Meyer said.

MRC’s Tennis Academy rounds out the summer junior schedule. The academy will run on Mondays, starting June 28, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. outdoors at CHRHS. This program is for varsity level players and those competing in tournaments.

There also is a variety of tennis programs for adults. From the Learn to Play program on Wednesday nights, to the Friday Night Mixer, there is something for everyone on the schedule.

All of the programs are run by MRC’s experienced, certified tennis staff, Meyer said.
