Rockport — As the 2020-21 Maine hockey campaign has ended, Midcoast Recreation Center, which has taken out its ice, looks ahead and plans for next year with a gear drive, which runs until Friday, April 30.

Any new or used ice hockey gear that has been outgrown, or no longer in use, will be accepted at the MRC front office.

MRC strives to make hockey accessible to all youth, working to provide quality, low-cost programs to children in their communit, said Jesse Simko, rink director.

One way to make this possible is to provide families in need of equipment what they need to play hockey at no charge.

MRC also rents full sets of gear to adults at $100 for the full season, working to keep hockey affordable for everyone.

Simko said youth and adult hockey gear is "desperately needed" for MRC to continue to provide gear for everyone.
