Rockport — Mount Pleasant Dental Care will be opening a new office under the name North Pond Dental Care on Route 1 in Warren in spring 2020.

The office will be located at 2467 Atlantic Hwy. across from Lie-Nielsen Toolworks.

According to a press release sent by Dr. David H. Pier, DMD, the building, which is currently in the framing process, will be ready to open in March or April 2020.

Pier wrote, “After several years of considering our options, looking at locations, and most of all – soul searching – we have decided the best way to fulfill our mission is to expand access to the care we provide.”

Mount Pleasant Dental opened at 634 Rockland St., Rockport, in January 2004 with Pier as the only dentist. He has since been joined at the practice by Dr. Rebecca M. Laliberte, DMD and Dr. Stacey N. Stevens, DDS. Office Manager Liane Wilson said with the added dentists and a continually increasing number of patients, they are “running out of physical space.”

She said the new office will be larger than Mount Pleasant and will house most of the oral surgery, as well as expanding on the sedation dentistry offered at the current location. According to the press release, patients will be welcome at either location, and each dentist, as well as the hygienists, will have hours at each practice.

Wilson said that with few dentists in Warren, the new practice will be a “demographically good location,” where they hope to draw patients from the peninsulas, as well as providing a more accessible option for some current patients.

Wilson said the Mount Pleasant staff is excited about the expansion, and although they will eventually be bringing on more staff, including Pier’s son, who is currently serving as a Navy dentist, the two offices will remain one entity with staff able to move freely between the two.

Wilson said they have begun scheduling patients for April 2020 at the new location, which will be open Monday through Thursday.
