Motorcycle club aids veteran widow

Spruce Head — Members of the Garry Owen Motorcycle Club traveled to Spruce Head to repair the roof of Elsie Rackliff.
The club has chapters throughout Maine, and works to help veterans.
Rackliff’s husband Harold, a highly decorated World War II veteran, died in 2010. Since then Rackliff has maintained the house on her own.
Rackliff did not know the group was coming to fix her home, and said she was surprised and happy for the help.
Derek Tripp, a member of the club, said all material and labor was donated for the project.
Tripp said the club would replace the old roof, which had been leaking, with a metal one.
