Artists Greg Mort and Jon Mort are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing by rolling their high powered telescopes out of the studio and inviting the community to view the Moon and the site where the astronauts landed: The Sea of Tranquility.

Both Greg Mort and Jon Mort at passionate space and science enthusiasts. Greg is a life long amateur astronomer, telescope builder and a commissioned NASA artist since 1983. The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum hosts twenty of his NASA paintings including his portrait of Carl Sagan.  He currently serves on the Board of the Lowell Observatory and in the past the McDonald Observatory. Greg's "ZERO G Apples" was part of the "First Art Exhibition in Space" aboard the International Space Station in 2010.

Jon's interest in space science focuses on the history of astronomy and its impact on the human cultural narrative. Last year he traveled through Ireland and England, viewing Neolithic timekeeping structures, historic telescopes and chronometers and a catalog of scientifically inspired art and architecture. Jon's fascination with the historic and popular influences of space exploration is frequently reflected in his artwork.

The Mort’s 50th Anniversary Moon Landing Telescope Star Party will take place on Thursday, July 11th, 8:30 PM at Fieldstone Castle 129 Marshall Point Road Port Clyde, Maine. Dress for the evening temperatures and bugs.
