Montville Town News

By Fran Gonzalez | Mar 02, 2018

The Montville town meeting is March 24 at 10 a.m. at the town house. I have not seen the completed warrant, but here are some items of interest that I know will be discussed.

A local food ordinance article will be talked about. This deals with the right to sell food direct to consumers within the town, without state inspection. This does not include meat or poultry.

Also, the townspeople will decide whether to elect a town road commissioner and fire chief instead of having these positions appointed by selectmen. Sounds interesting. Hope to see you there!

Seeds anyone?

Mount View eighth grade students are selling Fedco seeds as a fundraiser until March 9. The funds they earn will go towards their class trip. For more information contact 568-7561.

Interested in Substitute teaching?

There will be an informational meeting on March 12 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Mount View Elementary School library. Pizza and refreshments will be served and applications will be available. Please rsvp for this event by March 9 to Sadie at 568-7541 or

Liberty Library News

We love our new book drop, however it has made it difficult for volunteers to put up the flag. We are moving the flag placement to a more convenient spot, but it may take awhile because it has to be attached to brick. If you rely on the flag being outside as a way to know whether the Library is open or not, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Aging Well

Wednesday March 14, at noon for lunch at 51 Main St. in Liberty. Contact Bob at 589-3105 for reservations by Saturday March 10. Recommended donation is $8 (but several generous donors will make up the difference if that exceeds your budget). It’s a great chance to see old friends and make new ones.

An Eye for Lake St. George is a collection of photographs taken by Joe Rehmeyer along Lake St. George in Maine.  To order and see a preview checkout

Profits for each book sold will go to the Liberty Library.

The 16th Annual Senior College Festival of Art Show will be June 7 to 10 at the Hutchinson Center in Belfast. Maine artists, 50 and up are invited to enter. Registration is from March 1 to 31 and forms are available at, or at the Senior College office at the Hutchinson Center. For more information call 338-8033.

That's about it for this week. Until next time.
