Monday movies return to Amphitheatre

Jul 06, 2018
"Little Shop of Horrors" focuses on star-crossed lovers Seymour (Rick Moranis) and Audrey (Ellen Greene, who played the role in the original stage production).

Camden — Everyone is invited to bring a blanket or lawn chairs, a picnic dinner or some popcorn to the first screening of the season of Camden Public Library’s Monday Night Movies series. "Little Shop of Horrors" (1986, USA) will be screened Monday, July 16, at 8:30 p.m. on an inflatable screen in Camden Amphitheatre, Atlantic Avenue.

The library is going for a lighthearted monster theme for this summer’s free movies. In the event of rain, the movie will be postponed or canceled. No smoking or alcohol are allowed. Donations toward library programs are always appreciated.

Meek flower shop assistant Seymour (Rick Moranis) pines for coworker Audrey (Ellen Greene). During a total eclipse, he discovers an unusual plant … that feeds only on human flesh and blood. The PG-rated Frank Oz-directed film is an adaptation of the Alan Menken/Howard Ashman stage musical, based on a Roger Corman drive-in movie.

The rest of the Monday screening schedule feature: July 23, “Monsters, Inc” (G; 2001, USA); July 30, “Monsters” (R; 2010, UK); Aug. 6, “The Dark Crystal” (PG-13; 1982, USA); Aug. 13, “Beasts of the Southern Wild” (PG-13; 2012, USA); and Aug. 20, “The Boxtrolls” (PG; 2014, USA). The rain date is Aug. 27 at 7:30 p.m.
