Mobile meal unit aims to increase children's access to food

Aug 05, 2019

Damariscotta — For three weeks in August, a trailer called “LuLu the lunch wagon” will be used to deliver free lunches to children in Waldoboro neighborhoods.

After several months of planning and fundraising, Lincoln County Summer Meals, a project of Healthy Lincoln County, is launching its first mobile meal unit. The lunch wagon was purchased as part of a pilot program to increase children’s access to free, healthy lunches during the summer.

Any and all children ages 18 and under are welcome at these locations. In addition, adults who come with children are welcome to purchase a meal for $2 cash only, as available.

The schedule and route for lunches is Tuesdays through Thursdays from Aug. 6 thorugh Aug. 22:

Brookside Mobile Home Park 11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m.

Skyview Ridge Mobile Home Park noon to 12:20 p.m.

Marble Oaks from 12:25 to 12:45 p.m.
