Augusta — Democratic Sen. Dave Miramant of Camden has been appointed to the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Natural Resources and Infrastructure Committee.

The appointment was made by the president of the Senate. Miramant will serve as a representative from the Maine Senate.

“I am honored to receive the support to represent my colleagues in the Senate on this national committee,” Miramant said. “I know the environment and infrastructure are important issues for our region and entire state. I look forward to being a part of the group.”

The Natural Resources and Infrastructure Committee is one of nine NCSL Standing Committees that educates Congress and federal agencies about state concerns and serves as a forum for state legislators and legislative staff to learn about and share information regarding programs and initiatives in other states. In particular, this committee has jurisdiction over state and federal energy, environment, agriculture and transportation programs, legislation, regulations and policies.

NCSL is a national organization that serves the interests of state legislatures by providing states support, ideas and connections for policy and effectiveness.
